WGC Community Garden Projects

Since the successful launch of the George Street Canteen Wildlife Garden, a lot of our newly trained wildlife gardening champions have been keen to help with other community garden projects, both big and small.

In March 2023 Jo and Jane demonstrated how to create a dead hedge at a local school!

Like the George Street Canteen, this is a slightly bigger project! Katy, Jo, Jane and Steve have all being busy not only planning but working in a garden on Sandfield rd. This involves not only making it more wildlife friendly, but creating wheelchair access so that the four residents can enjoy the garden.

Jane has created a plan of the finished garden, complete with a butterfly mound, wildflower meadow, bog garden and compost heap.

We’re hopeful that neighbours may not only be interested in volunteering in the garden, but in linking their gardens to create another wildlife corridor along Sandfield rd.
