St Albans Sustainability Festival

Wilderhood Watch is excited to be running two Sustfest events this year, as well as a stall at the Sustfest Market Takeover on May 24th.

The Great St Albans Sunflower Challenge

As part of our Pollinator Highway Project, we are challenging St Albans residents to plant as many sunflowers as they can in their gardens during Sustfest (May 23rd – June 7th 2020). Sow your seeds outside and then contact us to let us know how many you’ve planted. To keep our wildlife happy and well-fed, please avoid planting pollen-free varieties.

Look out for our Wilderhood Watch stall at the Sustfest Market Takeover on May 24th to get your free packet of Sunflower seeds!

The Wilderhood Watch Photography Competition

This is a competition to find the best photograph of garden wildlife, and will be judged on artistic merit, technical skill and ecological interest. There will be winners in four age categories –

  • Infant School and below
  • Junior School
  • Secondary School
  • Adult

Prizes will be a small, hand knitted hedgehog along with its very own hand built house.

Please send entries to nadia@wilderhoodwatch.org by the competition deadline of May 22nd 2020. The winning photographs will be displayed at the St Albans Museum in the first week of Sustfest.
