Projects so far:
As well as participating in plant giveaways, planting for pollinators and digging ponds, many of our 20mph Hedgehog signs are displayed along the road, encouraging motorists to slow down for animals.
Our latest project is Mad about Bats, which is a collaboration between Wilderhood Watch and Wild Jam. This will involve carrying out bat surveys along our road, so that we can find out how much bat activity we actually have. Once we know the results, we’ll be able to focus our efforts to help them on where they’ll have the most impact.
We do suspect however that future actions to increase our bat population will revolve around planting native hedges in our gardens, so that the tree line along the lane is uninterrupted. (This would be very good news for our hedgehogs too). So please check out our Plant a Hedge project page for detailed information if you’d like to get a head start!
