Welcome to our Sandridge Rd page!
As all of our houses along Sandridge rd are fortunate enough to have large grass verges, residents joined together to ask the SA council to adjust their mowing schedule so that some of the grass remained uncut over the summer months. Thanks to lots of communication between neighbours and support from our local Bernard’s Heath councillors, this means that we have now been able to sow wildflower seeds on the grassy areas closest to our houses. A grass margin of 4m by the pavement will still be regularly mowed, enabling plenty of room for people to walk whilst increasing the biodiversity and beauty of the area.
All of the verges on the odd numbered side of the street will now be mowed just twice a year, as well as numbers 186-256 on the even side. Neighbours from 19 households contributed funds to sow wildflower seeds this autumn, and we hope that more will join in next year.
