Sweet Chilli Cheese Puffs (V)

These cheese puffs are perfect to serve as a savoury snack. To make them as eco-friendly as possible, please use organic cheese and eggs certified by the Soil Association, or Burford Brown eggs.

Ingredients (makes approximately 12 cheese puffs)

  • 1 1/2 C flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 C grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 C oat milk
  • 1 1/2 T sweet chilli sauce

Method

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celcius (fan).

Combine the flour and baking powder thoroughly in a bowl and then add the grated cheese, mixing well. Beat the egg, oat milk and sweet chilli sauce together in a jug and then add to the flour mixture. Mix until just combined and then use a dessertspoon to spoon the batter onto a greased baking tray, dividing it into approximately 12 dollops, spaced evenly apart. Place on the middle shelf of the oven and cook for 12-15 minutes until puffed up and golden brown.

These can be served as they are, or cut in half and spread with butter or margarine.
