There is growing evidence that the farming of animals (for food, dairy and eggs) is responsible for a whopping 51% of our carbon emissions worldwide. This is because in calculating its impact, we need to take into account the tropical forest lost to provide land for grazing and for growing animal feed. We also need to factor in emissions from fish farming.
Find out how the food you choose to buy directly affects the standard of animal welfare (and what labels to look out for) on the Compassion in World Farming website.
The single most effective way of stalling and reversing climate change is for all of us to eat less meat and dairy, which is why we have created this page of delicious and easy vegan recipes. Better for your health, better for animals and better for the planet!
