Chiswell Green Buzz Stops

Welcome to our Chiswell Green Buzz Stop page. We now have two Buzz Stops – one at Greenwood UR Church which we planted in 2022, and one which we planted on the N/S/E/W Close roundabout in Autumn 2024.

A group of us scarified and sowed seeds on our N/S/E/W roundabout in November 2024, and can’t wait to see it blooming with wildflowers in the summer.

It’s summer 2024 and perennials such as ox-eye daisies and knapweed are already establishing themselves at our Greenwood UR Church site. We’re hopeful that a wider variety of perennials will appear over the coming years.

On September 24th 2022, Wilderhood Watch volunteers collaborated with members of the church and the wider Chiswell Green community to sow the above wildflower meadow. The expansive church grounds are home to a vast array of wildlife including 6 species of bat. We hope very much that the insects our meadow attracts will help them all flourish.

We spent a lovely afternoon scarifying, raking and sowing seeds on this beautiful piece of lawn set within a border of wildlife friendly native trees, hedgerow and bramble. The red kite circling above us seemed particularly interested!
