Community Recycling is a brand new project initiated by the Salisbury Ave/Garden Close and Burnham Rd Wilderhood Watch groups.
The intention is to set up collection points along the street for items such as printer cartridges, tetra-packs and medication packets, which are currently not included in the Council’s fortnightly collection.
This printable A4 sign can be attached to your recycling containers. Just fill in the blank with whatever you’re collecting!

Lancaster Rd residents are collecting medication blister packs which will be taken to a recycling point once the box is full.
Streets involved so far:
- Burnham Rd (pens, crisp packets, fruit pouches, pet food pouches, blister packs, razor blades, brita filters, batteries, dental items, beauty products, tetra paks, smart phones and tablets, all soft plastics, clothes, foil balloons and banners)
- Offa, Ver and Abbey View Rds (medication packets)
- Salisbury Ave and Garden Close (a variety of items)
- Lancaster Rd (medication packets)
If you would like to repair rather than recycle, try the St Albans District Fixers, who hold regular repair fairs in St Albans and Harpenden.
